Sales Associate – Job Description

In this customer-facing role, you will be responsible for qualifying inbound inquiries and turning them into customer relationships and projects. You will present the company’s multiple technical services at initial sales meetings and qualify opportunities. You will work with our technical team to draft customer proposals based on AMFitzgerald’s phased product development methodology. The sales process usually involves multiple touch points to build trust and define an appropriate scope of work, requiring strategic thinking and creativity.

Required

  • Excellent speaking and writing skills in English; comfortable and eager to meet new people from diverse industries and cultures

  • Experience with qualifying sales leads and managing a sales pipeline

  • Drive and persistence to understand customer needs and identify how our services can address them

  • Curiosity and excitement for cutting edge technologies and products

  • Self-organized, able to operate in a low bureaucracy environment

  • BS in engineering, physics, computer science or math; comfortable working with technical experts

  • Work 3 days per week in Burlingame, CA office

  • Travel to clients or trade shows up to 20% time

  • Must be a US Citizen, permanent resident, or already authorized to work in the USA

Preferred

  • Prior sales experience in a MEMS, sensors, or photonics company

  • Networked in industries that depend on microelectronics or photonic components such as: optical networking and communications, medical devices, consumer products, aerospace

Sofant engaged AMFitzgerald to translate a MEMS process which had been originally developed at a university fab into a process suitable for commercial foundry production. AMFitzgerald then fabricated and delivered prototypes, validating the new process and enabling the company to raise further capital. The engagement was a success and the process was subsequently transferred into a 200 mm high volume foundry.
